Virtual Pokemon Go Disneyland Postcards

I was late to the party, but on July 11, 2024 I started playing Pokemon Go, and have virtually walked 5642 km (3505 miles) since I started playing the game, and caught 82,043 Pokemon. And at some point while playing I made a virtual friend in the game who sends me Disneyland Resort postcards every day! When I received the first one, I was pretty excited as I had never seen a Disneyland (or other Disney park) postcard in the game. I then went looking online and found that every Disney park worldwide has many pokestops with all kinds of great postcards. As a huge Disneyland (and Disney in general) fan and collector, these have become fun new additions to my collection. Each day when another one shows up, its my little bit of Disney pixie dust for the day!

Didn't think you needed an iPad? Think again! When the iPad was announced, we all crammed into a conference room to watch live and drool over every shiny corner and reflecty icon. What cool things could we do with the iPad that you, our lovely geek customers, would squee over? A few brainstorming sessions later, the idea of a MAME cabinet came up and we knew we'd struck gold. How cool would it be to slide your iPad into a desktop-sized arcade cabinet and rock it old school with some Pac-Man or Space Invaders?
Enter the iCade iPad Arcade Cabinet! To use the iCade, gently slide the iPad into the docking cradle. The docking cradle uses a standard 30 pin connector to link the iPad to the professional-grade arcade controls. Once the iPad is in place, launch the iCade App (available free in the App Store April 3rd) and it's game on! We didn't want to take any chances you'd run out of juice during your favorite game, so we included a 10w USB power adapter so you can charge the iPad through any electrical outlet. Problem is this item does not actually exist - it was just a tongue in cheek hoax, which is too bad because I really, really want one!

Plants Vs Zombies

Where have I been the past 2 weeks? Fighting off the frackin zombies that's where! I heard about this game called Plants Vs Zombies while listening to the podcast This Week In Tech (TWiT) and it sounded like fun. Little did I know that once I started defending my home from the zombies, I wouldn't have time for anything else! I managed to go through a full week of spring break without doing much of anything other than playing Plants Vs Zombies. Even my 4 year old is now addicted to shooting zombies with frozen pee shooters and blowing them up with potato bombs! So, if you have stuff to do, DO NOT check this out. If you, on the other hand have a few empty weeks to fill, then visit Pop Cap games. But don't say I didn't warn you!

Angelina Jolie / Tomb Raider Got Milk?

I picked up a bunch of old comics the other day and as I was going though them, I noticed that a bunch of them had great ads on the back covers. Here is one of those ads. It is a 2003 Got Milk? ad with Angelina Jolie / Tomb Raider.

My Frist Video Game: Wallobee Jack

Growing up in the 80's when home video games were gaining popularity with such titles as Space Invaders and Missile Command, I was resigned to visiting friends who owned such things. I don't really remember feeling left out, and I don't remember ever asking for a video game system, so I guess all was well in my childhood even without a game system in my home. I do however remember in the early 90's when CD-Rom games for computers were becoming popular. I purchased my first (and as it turns out, last) video game for the Macintosh 1n 1993. It was called Wallobee Jack: The Bingi Burra Stone as was billed as an interactive toon show. The drawing on the front of the box looked really cool to me and the idea of an interactive cartoon seemed so cool! What a disappointment! The graphics in the game were pretty limited and the actual game consisted of short animated scenes where you had to move the mouse around looking for a hot spot which would then activate the next scene. Obviously games have come a long way since then, but as my introduction to video games, it served to turn me off gaming ever since. To this day, my gaming experience consists of Snood and checkers, both of which are on my Mac and take up less than an hour of my time per week.
