Happy 14th Birthday Big Pile of Stuff!
Happy 14th Birthday to my blog, Ronn's Big Pile of Stuff! When I started it, it was mostly a joke to see if I could put something on the internet every day for a year. Then, once I started it, I kinda liked it! Hopefully there is someone out there also enjoying it, but if its just me, that's fine because I'm having fun!

Happy 7th Birthday Big Pile of Stuff!
Today, July 30th, is the 7th birthday of this, the Big Pile of Stuff blog. For the first few years, I made all kinds of fun graphics for the special occasion, but then the last few years, I have actually forgotten about the day completely. Today, I wanted to to acknowledge 7 years, but I was kinda lazy, so I have just recycled one of my favorite graphics from a previous birthday. I love this one because it looks so much like something you would see on Sesame Street, with the large foam letters on sticks parading around their apartment.
As a special thank you to those of you who actually read this, I will be having a cool giveaway in a few days, so keep your eyes peeled for my next post.

Little Golden Book Monday #138
This is a book my son gave me on the weekend while he was cleaning up his room. He was going though his two large book cases full of books and boxing up all the ones he no longer reads, so that he can donate them to a local thrift shop. He knows that I like Little Golden Books, so he brought this one to me and asked if I wanted it. Surprisingly I did not already have this one in my collection, so I thanked him for the new addition to my collection, and here we have today's book. Walter Lantz's Woddy Woodpecker at the Circus from 1981 (original printing 1976).
Along with the cover, I have scanned some images from the book, including a two page spread of Woody and his niece and nephew, Knothead and Splinter hanging out in the back yard sipping lemonade and reading the Circus Book.
Next up is a great Lion Tamer illustration. Reminds me of a lamp I used to have as a kid.
And lastly, I scanned the inside front cover. As you can see, this book was a prize at Lynne's 5th birthday party. Thanks Lynne!

Happy Birthday Big Pile Of Stuff!

Today is the first birthday for my blog, Ronn's Big Pile of Stuff, which I posted the first entry to on July 30th, 2006. When I started, I thought it would be an interesting experiment to see if I could post an entry a day for a full year (or more). My experiment lasted 75 days, until on October 13th I forgot to post an entry, and my streak was over. Since then, I have not been posting daily, but I have been posting a few entries a week. I even started a weekly feature called "Little Golden Book Monday" where I post one Little Golden Book each Monday, and I have been thinking of adding a few more daily features. We'll see if I get around to it.
This blog has been a fun way to write about and show things that I am interested in, and I plan to continue posting stuff to the Big Pile Of Stuff for a long time to come.
Hopefully in our second year someone else besides myself will find the blog and enjoy it as much as I do!

Happy Birthday Disneyland

Happy Birthday to Disneyland park which is celebrating its 52nd birthday today. The park opened to guests on July 17, 1955. I have had the opportunity to spend many July 17th's at the park, and I must say I wish I was there today! I'm going to watch my copy of "Dateline Disneyland" the opening day live special that is part of the Walt Disney Treasures DVD set titled Disneyland USA. Happy Birthday to you Disneyland!

Some Swell Greeting Cards
I wish it was my birthday, so that I could send myself some of these neato birthday cards I found at a thrift store a few years ago. I am guessing that some little old lady decided to get rid of her box of cards under the bed. These are some great old vintage cards with some really nice artwork. There is no date on the cards, a few of them do have the "Wishing Well Greetings" logo on the back as well as "Made it USA".
I originally bought these as gag cards that I was going to send to my friends for birthdays etc. In the end I liked them so much, that I never ended up giving any of them away!
