Hitchhiking Ghosts in 3D... Kinda

I have been playing with the DittoPro 3D printer we have at work. When I noticed one of the colours of filament we had was a semi transparent aqua, it immediately made me think of a ghost, and of course that lead me to looking for a Haunted Mansion ghost that I could print. I found was this Hitchhiking Ghosts silhouette file which I printed out and it now lives in my collection along with my faux Sleeping Beauty animation cell and Tinkerbell in a lantern.

My Own Stretching (Bath)Room Portrait

About two months ago while my wife and I were visiting a thrift shop in Vancouver I came across the painting/poster shown here of a ballerina. I wasn't sure why, but I really liked it and after making my purchases, I went back and picked up this picture and asked how much it was. The woman behind the till told me it was 50 cents, so I dug out two quarters from my pocket and took my new treasure home with my other purchases.
When I got home, I once again wondered why exactly I liked this thing, and wondered why I had bought a picture that looked like it should be on a little girls bedroom wall.
Still, now knowing why I liked it, it ended up on a shelve in my bathroom so that you can see it as soon as you walk in.
Once my wife saw it there, she said, "I know why you like that so much, because it looks just like those stretching portraits in the Haunted Mansion that you love so much!" Once she said that, that was it. That is all I can think about when I look at this thing. All she needs is a bunch of snakes and creepy crawly bugs on the floor around her feet and you could hang this along with the other portraits in the stretching room of Disney's Haunted Mansion.
For those of you not familiar with the stretching portraits, here is a photo I found on the net of someone who has the 4 stretching portrait posters framed on their wall. The yellows lines show what you see at first - just the tops of the pictures are visible (A). Then as the room stretches, you start to see more of the pictures, as they reveal a much different final picture than what we see at first.

Some Great Halloween Comic Reading

Being that Halloween is less than a week away, I thought I would post some recent comics that would make for some great Halloween reading.
First off we have Slave Labor Graphics Haunted Mansion comic which is based on the famous Disneyland attraction of the same name. Shown here is the most recent issue, #6. SLG obtained the rights to some great Disney properties including Tron, Gargoyles, Alice in Wonderland and the Haunted Mansion. Being a big Haunted Mansion fan and collector, this series was a no brainer. I was a little disappointed that SLG went with an anthology series instead of a continuing story, but each issue still manages to provide some fun reading.
Second we have another of SLG's Disney comics, Gargoyles. Again, I was a big fan of the show when it was on TV back in 1994, so when I saw this title I was also very interested. This series is very cool, as it is written by Gargoyles creator Greg Weisman and is written as a continution of the TV series as the creator envisioned. They have done a great job of creating stories that really feel like they have come right out of the cartoon series. The illustrations are done by David Hedgecock, Karine Charlesbois and Gordon Purcell and and looks great!
And finally we have the most recent comic version of Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th series. After comic runs in Topps, Avatar, Chaos Comics, the series now finds a home at Wildstorm, where already more than a handful of series titles have been released. This most recent one is titled Friday the 13th: How I Spent My Summer Vacation, a two issue limited series. This one is suggested for mature readers, and for good reason, as it is filled with lots of what you would expect from a Friday the 13th film - suspense, nudity and gore!
Check them out at your local comic shop this Halloween!
